“Diet” was once just a noun referring to what we regularly eat. Though we’re not entirely sure when it became a verb, a booming industry has grown up around health and weight loss diets, low carb, gluten free, paleo, vegan – the list goes on. If you’re looking for ways to get and stay healthy, taking charge of your diet and exercise is very important.
No article can claim which workout or diet is 100% right for you, but we here at Lifestyle Dynamics can definitely give you our top five ways to get back into the habit of treating your body right when you’ve slipped.
It happens to everybody; be it temptation, frustration or just the modern day pressures to let it slide. But instead of beating yourself up over it or continuing on a destructive health trend, here are 5 ways to hit your regimen reset button:
1. Drink Water.
Water is the universal detox remedy. Whatever you did, you can recommit with a glass of water. It won’t wash away your sins, but it’s a great gesture that also happens to be good for you. Check out what else we have to say about your body and H2O; some helpful tips you’ll find yourself using very single day.
2. Eat When You’re Supposed To!
NEVER make up for overeating by starving yourself. This stimulates the feast/famine biology of our inner hunter-gatherer and can start your body storing fat for what it perceives are uncertain times ahead.
3. Go For A Walk.
It clears the head, settles the tummy and gets the blood flowing. Take a look around. Turn off your inner critic. Don’t dwell on what you did; set an intention for what you’re going to do next. Give yourself credit right now for catching a bad moment and turning it around!
4. Take Some B Vitamins.
B6 is what your body uses to produce serotonin, the happy neurotransmitter released during exercise, kissing and gobbling chocolate. Vitamin B6 is also great for stimulating the thyroid which aids in weight loss. We like the quick-dissolve pills that go under the tongue for fast action!
5. Don’t punish yourself.
Long gone are the days of simple biological responses to simple stimuli of pleasure and pain. Mentally kicking yourself is the same as actually kicking yourself, so if you really feel you need to beat up on somebody, go work out!
Those are our favorite things. You know what else helps?Eating food that is both delicious and good for you. We whole-heartedly believe good-for-you can and does taste good! We are partial to this Spiraled Cucumber Greek Salad. Literally we could eat a truckload… and NOT feel guilty about it.
And if you need a little something extra to get you back in the groove of things, try a little “healthy” retail therapy with a new Watermelon Slicer that you know will have you filling your belly with hydrating, good-for-you melon for days! Have fun!
